Dr. C. Ben Boucher BSc MD obtained his Honors Biology degree from St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS in 1973. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS in 1978.
Dr. Ben practiced family medicine, including at times obstetrical and emergency medicine in a rural setting from 1979 to 2013. He retired in 2015.
An interest in preventive health services was present and incorporated into his practice from the beginning. In 1998, he authored the Body Owner’s Manuals which addressed Health Promotion and Illness and Injury Prevention for pregnancy and five age groups from infancy to seniors.
Over the past few years, Dr. Boucher expanded his concept of wellness and has developed a website that addresses the three main areas of wellness: Health Promotion, Illness and Injury Prevention and Self Care. The fourth area is Treatment. As a retired physician, he used his years of experience to create this site, beingwellcanada.ca.
With an interest in toxic metals and chelation therapy treatment, Dr. Boucher assessed and treated many patients with arsenic, lead, mercury, and other toxicities from 1990 to 2013. He has partnered with Nova Scotia-based Naturopath, Dr. Bryan Rade, to provide people with access to urine metal analyses available through their website, toxicmetaltesting.ca.
Dr. Boucher is well known within the medical community for his research on and treatment of Lyme Disease and Vector Transmitted Infections (VTI’s) and has been a sought after speaker with a special interest in this area.
