Toxic Metal Mercury and ALS

HealthDay News (Feb 20, 2017) reported that the toxic metal mercury from foods may raise the risk of developing ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis; Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

The foods containing most mercury are tuna, swordfish and sharks. It is also present in salmon.
Mercury can also accumulate from mercury containing dental amalgams.

Mercury, like all toxic metals, can have serious negative health effects. These include neurotoxicity (tremors, incoordination, memory loss, decreased mentation),personality changes (irritability, shyness, nervousness), increased blood pressure, and kidney damage. Its effects can be increased in children and their developing brain.
